XMPP and Server Operations

SocialVision is an angel-funded, innovative Berkeley-based startup whose premier product helps make online video a social experience. We help media companies monetize their existing content and increase ROI for advertisers. Our mission is to make online television more fun and interactive by creating new social experiences around it. THE OPPORTUNITY:
SocialVision is looking for an amazing Flash/Flex Developer that will help develop innovative social experiences around video. You will write custom components and make things that have never been done on a video site before, happen.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Rapidly design and implement maintainable, Flex code. Architect and write the client-side code and work with the team to figure out testing plans, backend integration, and chat/XMPP integration.
Responsibilities
• Setup and maintain chat servers either locally or in the cloud.
• Create reliable, high availability XMPP server environment that supports over 1 million concurrent users logged in and chatting in chatrooms. Create monitoring, health checks and notifications for servers.
• Load test server setup to match performance requirements (build out hardware as needed).
• Help architect and build the chat-centric data collection and analytics, and potentially write a custom module or extension to XMPP server to do this.
Qualifications:
• Ability to scale an XMPP deployment to over 1 million concurrent users!
• Deep understanding of XMPP protocol and extensions such as BOSH, MUC, Gateway Interaction, External Components, etc.
• Experience with clustering XMPP servers or components
• Ability to perform load testing of XMPP server according to our custom message patterns
• Experience hacking on / extending / configuring popular XMPP server (e.g. Tigase, ejabberd)
