Flash/Flex Developer needed for part time gig in MD
at Instant Technology (Anywhere)
Participate in software engineering and prototype development for information repository and digital preservation IRAD by creating user interfaces for complex software tools and search functionality. Work requires a very good sense of visual design and user interface engineering.
June 1, 2009 – December 30, 2009
STAFFING: Estimated 8-10 days per month for 7 months for task-based assignments.
NUMBER OF POSITIONS – 1
LOCATION: Work to be performed on-site in Greenbelt, Maryland for 1-2 days per week for the first 1-2 months. Thereafter, some tasks may be performed off-site. Would provide remote system access, as required.
SKILLS:
Required
•? Significant experience in Flex / Actionscript 3.0 GUI development. Candidate should have completed major data-intensive UI projects in Actionscript 3.0 with innovative data interfaces and renderings.
•? Solid understanding and experience with frameworks such as Cairngorm, or PureVMC and experience writing data intensive applications working with Flex Data Services or BlazeDS.
•? Significant experience working with Adobe's SDK for creating custom Flash video players and programming for and deploying to Flash Media Server 3.5.
•? Excellent Java skills
•? Significant experience working in a Spring Framework environment
•? Experience interfacing Java web applications with SQL
Desirable
•? Experience working with semantic data models - understanding of OWL / RDF
•? Experience creating internationalized interfaces
The candidate should be thoroughly familiar with a Linux development and build environment which includes Eclipse, Maven, Subversion, and Continuum.
We will be interested in seeing a candidate’s portfolio of work.
Given the distributed nature of work in our project, the candidate must have work environment skills including:
• Strong communication and system design skills
• Productive and self motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit
• Ability to quickly assess and apply creative solutions to ambiguous functional requirements
• Experience hardening prototypes into production quality applications
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team
• Good organization and time management skills
