A fast-growing company in Reston, VA (a suburb of Washington, DC) is looking to hire a mid- to senior-level Flex frontend developer.

The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of in-depth experience using Adobe Flex to build web-based rich client interfaces. The ideal candidate will also have a experience in more traditional HTML/CSS/Javascript web application development. We’re looking for someone that is enthusiastic about new web technologies, who’s excited about working closely with a small group of developers, who enjoys taking ownership of their work, who wants to help us think about and design new software solutions, who wants to introduce new technology ideas, and who wants to learn.

Candidates should have extensive experience in the following technical areas:

• Adobe Flex 3 development, including strong object-oriented development experience.
• XML (+XHTML), XPath, XSLT
• Browser-based UI technologies: Javascript (+DOM), HTML, CSS.

Candidates should have experience with the following tools or technologies:

• Object-oriented development
• Javascript language and frameworks such as ExtJS, Dojo, jQuery.
• Testing methodologies and/or frameworks (e.g. flexunit, flexmonkey, etc.)

Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have experience or familiarity with (any of) the following:

• GIS
• Data visualization
• RIA platforms: Adobe AIR, Webkit, XUL/XPCOM
• Web application backend development concepts (e.g. PHP, RoR, Python, Java, etc.)
• Basic RDBMS concepts

The position will focus on building RIA applications that communicate with services layers using AMF, JSON-RPC, XML-RPC, SOAP, or other similar technologies. We work on a broad spectrum of applications; examples include interactive data visualizations, complex control-panel applications, and secure communication tools.
